
Galal El Sharkawy
Biography
An Egyptian theater director in the field of theater. He obtained a Bachelor of Science from Cairo University in 1954, a Special Diploma in Education and Psychology from Ain Shams University in 1955, a Bachelor of the Higher Institute of Theatricals Arts with honors in 1958, among other degrees. At the beginning of his life, he worked as a science teacher, and during his artistic career, he held several positions, including the dean of the Higher Institute of Theatricals Arts from 1975 to1979. He is a full-time professor at the Institute since 2006. He also authored several books in the field of theater and cinema, including My Life in the Theater. He began his directorial debut in A Widow and Three Daughters (1965). He made during his career a large number of successful plays, including Ateya the Terrorist, West Side Story, and The School of the Misfits, which is his most famous one.
